“I’ve used my passions for sustainability and animals to inspire myself to make our planet a better place not just for humans, but animals as well.”

History with Roots & Shoots: One year with Roots & Shoots
Adelaide is a freshman from San Diego, California. This is her first year on the National Youth Leadership Council. Adelaide’s favorite Roots & Shoots project is building a website that connects grocery stores with old produce to dehydrators who send their proceeds to benefit the homeless. This project is so important to her because it is innovative and shows just how interconnected the world is, while giving Adelaide a chance to take action on a cause that is so prevalent in her community. She is passionate about sustainability and helping animals and uses these interests to inspire her new projects. She is a member of her school’s Social Innovation Team and the president of the sustainability club. In her spare time, Adelaide can be found practicing with her field hockey team.
