“3 years ago, I wouldn’t have imagined myself doing the big projects that I’ve done, but each of the stories I’ve heard through Roots & Shoots inspires me to keep going and to dream bigger.”

Roots & Shoots Group: 🔗 Blind Brook Roots & Shoots
Originally from Rye Brook, New York, Chloe is currently attending college in Pennsylvania, where she’s fighting food waste one project at a time. Since her first year on the council, Chloe has started college, but she still gets updates from her high school Roots & Shoots group, and they share with her how the projects she’s started have continued to expand. One such project—and her favorite Roots & Shoots project—was a composting program that saved about 5,600 lunch trays from the landfill in only the first 3 months! Now, Chloe continues to fight waste from a different angle by setting up little free pantries and libraries in surrounding communities. This means that both food goods and books that might have gone to waste can instead be enjoyed by community members with less access to these items. Outside of this essential community work, Chloe loves reading, singing Broadway showtunes, learning languages, watching sunsets, and exploring new places.
