Roots & Shoots History: One year with Roots & Shoots

Nicole is a junior at Weston High School. This is her first year on the National Youth Leadership Council. Her favorite Roots & Shoots project was researching and subsequently creating a website advocating for El Salvadorian refugees. This project taught Nicole a great deal about the realities that refugees face and she wanted to share that information with a broader audience. Nicole is also interested in computer coding and enjoys her project One Hour of Code, which is aimed at getting kids into coding. She teaches underprivileged first and second-grade girls in Cambridge about science on the weekends in Science Club for Girls. She was the secretary of her Youth in Philanthropy group last Spring. Kate loves to spend time on her computer, either coding it up or designing things to better her community.
