“I was grateful that through this project people were willing to share their experiences with me.”
Grade: Sophomore in Pittsboro, North Carolina
History with Roots & Shoots: Three years with Roots & Shoots
Virginia is a home schooled sophomore in Pittsboro, NC. This is her first year on the National Youth Leadership Council! Her favorite Roots & Shoots project was a Single-Use Plastic Challenge. Created in July of 2019, the plastic challenge ran for a month and focused on educating people on the effects of plastic waste and everyday management. She has been a volunteer in many types of projects in her community, such as the annual Clyde Fest, a children’s folk art festival. After finishing her school work, you’ll either find her crushing routes at Triangle Rock Club, her team climbing gym or playing with her cat and dogs.
