The Problem

We would like to introduce classroom composting, conservation, and healthy eating activities into our social studies and science work in the classroom to a new group of students. Food waste is a common issue at school. We would like to get a worm compost bin/system to compost our lunch waste and reuse it to fertilize our classroom gardens. We will tie this to ongoing initiatives aimed at ocean clean up, mangrove planting, and everglades conservation.

Our Plan

Our campaign will be successful if students can accurately explain the importance of recycling/composting and are motivated to continue the work throughout the year and at home. We intend to purchase a worm composting bin(or 2) and associated materials as well as seeds/plants for the gardens.
