The Problem

Students would like to beautify the area in front of the classroom by repurposing the milk crates left by the district's food distribution services to make seating areas for students to congregate and enjoy the decorative plants within the crates.

Our Plan

As part of the community walk, students identified the following problem: too many milk crates were being disposed of and not being reused. They also saw the need for green spaces around the 6th grade classrooms. They decided to fix both problems by coming up with a brilliant idea. They will use the crates as planters for native plants as well as seating areas around the 6th grade classrooms. We will survey 6th grade students and teachers to find out how their attitude has changed in regards to the green space area around the 6th grade classrooms and reusing the crates.
