What is your wish for this project?

My wish is for students and their community to be actively involved in the creating of a sensory garden that will unite them with each other and nature. It will provide a haven for humans and wildlife to partake in reflection and connection with the Earth.

How did it go?

Kindergarten classes created a sensory garden that allowed them to touch, smell, taste, listen, and see many of the living things found within the garden. Students created rain gauges, pinwheels, a compost, materials for bird nesting, and grew vegetables and herbs in the fall and spring from seed. First grade created a Monarch Waystation. Second Grade created a native Hempstead Plains Garden.
