What is your wish for this project?

We want to encourage the preservation of wildlife in our community. Our primary goal is to educate the public, especially underserved youth, about the importance of wildlife - particularly those animals which many regard as pests, like coyotes.

How did it go?

Our students first researched the problems with wildlife in our urban setting of Lakewood, Colorado. They talked to Jeffco Open Space officials, Lakewood City Council Members, and Bear Creek Lake Park Officials to understand the interactions between wildlife, people, and development in our city. They also attended a community coyote education seminar presented by Jeffco Open Space, Lakewood Regional Parks, and Colorado Parks and Wildlife.
