What is your wish for this project?

Students will expand on our school garden to add a Monarch Butterfly Waystation to the site. We also hope to educate others in our community about the importance of helping monarch butterflies and inspire them to plant their own native flowers and milkweed.

How did it go?

Our native flower garden was certified an official Monarch Waystation by Monarch Watch and continues to thrive. We saw our first monarch of the season last week and it is only May! At least 25 students participated weekly in caring for our school garden, with many more expressing interest. We hosted a Pollinator Party with many art and science activities where guests learned about the importance of monarchs and bees.
