The Problem

Kids Express After School children will invite the 200 families enrolled in our preschool to participate in the recycling project. Our first goal is to educate our families about the mining of minerals that put apes and chimpanzees at risk. We also want families to be aware of the impact the mining has on the environment and people living in the area. The children hope to collect 50 cell phones and other electronic devices to send for recycling.

Our Plan

We will collect electronic devices during the month of February to show love for our environment, animals, and people of the world. It will be our Valentine gift to the planet and its inhabitants. Collection bins will be placed at the entrances of each classroom and letters to parents will be sent out to each family informing them of our project and how they can help. The total amount of the devices will be counted and recorded by the preschoolers. The devices collected will be sent for recycling the first part of March. Parents will received reminders and updates, as well as our final count through their weekly newsletters.
