The Problem

Our wish for this project is that the migrating Monarch butterflies will find refuge in our garden. We want it to be a place that they can rest and re hydrate for their journey. We also want this to be a place where they are able to lay eggs and the eggs will hatch and grow into beautiful butterflies. The number of Monarch butterflies are decreasing and we hope that our garden can help to solve this problem!

Our Plan

This project will be completed by second grade students. They will create and maintain the garden. Once the garden is up and running the students will begin collecting data on the numbers of butterflies, eggs and larvae observed in our garden. the hope is that each year these numbers will increase.
