What is your wish for this project?

Plastic pollution is the single leading threat to our oceans and ecosystems. By 2050 it is estimated that there will be more plastic in our ocean than seas. Every minute 15 tons of plastic waste winds up in our oceans. Following a local park clean-up, students will create a piece of art with recycled materials. The purpose of this project is to raise awareness of the problem of single-use plastics.

How did it go?

Students created a variety of art pieces to raise awareness about plastic pollution. Creations included piggy banks out of water bottles, storage boxes, a make-up holder, a dragon and fish sculpture out of wire hangers and plastic bags, and a variety of other creations. Students will display their 'Trashy' artwork for parents during the second annual STEAM Night for parents and community members.
