The Problem

We wish to create a butterfly and pollinator garden to help support school curriculum, including the Monarch and Milkweed unit for second graders.

Our Plan

Last year, our teachers had a very difficult time sourcing milkweed plants that each 2nd grade class needed to feed their live monarchs. With this garden bed, we hope to grow the important milkweed plant, along with other pollinator friendly plants, right on school grounds. Some seedlings have already been planted in temporary containers but need to be transplanted into a garden in April. We have plans for an inexpensive, yet sturdy raised wood bed and will also need to purchase the soil and compost for the bed, which we hope to have finished by mid-late April.
