Our fourth and fifth grade group will investigate the process of composting. They will create compost bins using two different methods: Worm Composting and Dairy Composting. How did it go?

Our Roots & Shoots campaign included educating others about waste and ways to reduce it. The students researched how waste is handled and different options that people have to reduce waste. The group analyzed the garbage containers in the lunchroom and calculated how much waste was created from one lunch. The group then calculated how much waste could have been composted or recycled instead of going to the landfill. We specifically focused on composting, so we dug into the science more
