The goal of this project is using passion to create change. Good Spokes is a play on the words "Good Folks" we are folks doing good in our community. Art has always been a constant in my life, just as my passion to create change. Both of these have been leading forces in my life and have come up in just about everything that I have done. Founding Good Spokes has given me the opportunity to combine these two passions and do something I love! We are selling a variety of wire bikes and cards, as well as lino cut block prints and cards to support these 5 different organizations: the Jane Goodall Institute, the Leslie Science and Nature Center, the Humane Society of Huron Valley, World Bicycle Relief, and Heal the Bay!
Good Spokes was founded in 2015 with the idea of using passion to create change. We participated in many community events and art fairs, selling wire bikes and cards. Over the span of several years, we raised about $2,550 for World Bicycle Relief! They design, assemble, and distribute Buffalo bicycles to people in developing countries to help them gain access to education, health care, and work! In addition to this, they employ local community members throughout the process to help create jobs! Currently, we are still selling wire bikes and cards, but we now have a collection of hand carved lino cut prints supporting the Jane Goodall Institute, World Bicycle Relief, Heal the Bay, the Leslie Science and Nature Center, and the Humane Society of Huron Valley.
