The Problem

We would like to help the Orangutans by helping other children understand and choose Halloween candies that do not contain palm oil. Unfortunately a lot of trees in orangutan's natural habitats are being cut down to plant palm oil trees for businesses.

Our Plan

We will help educate our community members (mainly children and their parents) and supply them with educational materials and information. We intend to make posters and lists to help kids understand how to make good choices about which products affect the animals of our world and their wild habitats. It would assist us in delivering this important message and helping kids find an alternative to palm oil products with also helping them learn about orangutans and other animals we love.

Here is how the project went:

It was fun and the kids loved it. We started by talking about orangutans and how decisions humans make affect them, and then we have each child choose an animal and we learned about their natural habitats and what we could do to assist.

Through this project I/we learned:

We learned team work and a lot about various animals.

What I/we might change:

We would share the experience with another scout troop

My/our favorite part of this project was:

Seeing the children enjoy learning about animals, how to help them, and teaching this info to others.

Some tips, tricks or fun facts about the project:

We had the kids choose the direction of our meetings and guide the program.
