The Problem

There is little discussion about the native peoples that inhabited the land we are on today and only some discussion about what native plants and animals that also once occupied our land. We have a newly planted native plant garden at our school and want to increase the education around the above topics for both students and staff to learn about native people and native plants.

Our Plan

We want to create signage surrounding native people and native plants. The land our school is on is Tongva land and we want to teach students and staff more about these people and native plants within the garden. We will purchase materials to create informative signage to display throughout the garden. In addition, we will create a lesson plan that can be used for all grades at the school preschool-6th grade to teach them about these themes.
