The Problem

Loss of pollinator habitat in an urban area in Raleigh, NC.

Our Plan

Our group is working to expand and maintain a new pollinator garden at Walnut Creek Wetland Center in Raleigh. The Center is located in an urban area that is rapidly growing and developing. The garden was installed in front of the center in an area that is near the sidewalk, parking lot, and road. Our group knows that urban development has resulted in habitat loss for pollinators. Expanding and maintaining a native plant pollinator garden is how we decided to help address this issue. In addition to providing valuable pollinator habitat, our garden will add beauty to the area in front of the Center, and it will be used to provide community education and volunteer opportunities going forward.
