The Problem

We would like to beautify our outdoor learning space, while educating the children about the importance of recycling and reusing as much as we can. We are a non-profit preschool located in La Verne, California. We are a parent co-op, and are looking to provide a pleasing art piece to our outdoor learning space, while educating our little ones about the importance of keeping our earth clean by recycling and reusing as much as possible.

Our Plan

We would like to build a collaborative art piece using recycled materials such as: bottle lids and other recycled materials.

Here is how the project went:

Our families were very responsive with donations of bottle caps and lids to create our project. One of our parents took the lead of assembling the art project, and utilizing it to beautify our outdoor space!

Through this project I/we learned:

We could minimize our carbon footprint, while creating something beautiful for our school space all at the same time! The children learned the importance of recycling and reusing materials to create something new.

What I/we might change:

We would make our art piece even bigger! To cover more surface area of our outdoor space, and recycle even more materials to use.

My/our favorite part of this project was:

Teaching the children at our school about recycling and reusing, and the final product that is now on display for all to enjoy!

Some tips, tricks or fun facts about the project:

Have faith that if you ask for help, those in your community will respond! Get creative, and think of ways to engage the community (children included!), and bring your vision to life. We are stronger together!
