The Problem

We are hoping to inform students of the human impact they make on the environment. When people litter, birds of prey can ingest even the smallest pieces of plastic which compromises their health.

Our Plan

We were lucky enough to have a parent who trains hawks visit our school with these birds of prey! He explained the great responsibility students have to be environmental stewards. We walked through our school campus and picked up bags full of trash including many small items that would normally be missed but could still be eaten by these birds. We explored pictures and articles about hawks and their diet and how humans can have a negative impact on their life. Our group paid their knowledge forward by presenting to younger classes and continuing to clean our campus especially of small items that are still ingest-able by birds of prey.
