The project will recruit an intern to create our BV Blue Sky webpage, and to then promote clean air throughout our community. Our citizens will then have direct access to our real-time air particulate monitoring, and will be able to evaluate 'how much is too much' in terms of haze, road dust, solid fuel burning, industrial emissions and visibility impairment.

I want people to understand how air quality affects the overall well being of people. Three of my siblings that all grew up in the same neighborhood got asthma and I believe that there is a correlation between air quality and rates of respiratory diseases/ infections.

Nanotechnology can now reduce up to 98% of carbon emissions in ALL vehicles, Old or new, big or small. XSNano, when added to fuel, makes the fuel (Petrol or Diesel) burn more efficiently. Reducing emissions, improving fuel economy, increasing power and performance and extending the life of the engine. XSNano is available in Australia from Lubrication Solutions Pty Ltd with 25 years in the lubrication industry and an excellent reputation in fuel and oil treatment. Electric vehicles will reduce future emissions in new vehicles. But XSNano can reduce the emissions in ALL the vehicles currently in operation. We do need to reduce existing emissions as well as planing to reduce future emissions.

In partnership with alternative transport groups (such as bike sharing companies, the Metro, etc.), my students will conduct outreach efforts to spread awareness on the personal and environmental benefits of using renewable energy for transport. I will do this project in two phases. During the first phase, students will build a solar-powered device to explore the benefits and challenges of renewable energy. During the second phase, students will advocate for renewable energy in their community by creating flyers and posters, sharing their learning with community partners, and hosting public presentations.

Eco Ryders will host four rounds of three week long comprehensive environmental justice classes. The classes will review issues that effect local Bronx youth (example... Lead poisoning, asthma rates, zoning laws) and review how these issues connect to the environment and to policy. Each week will go over an umbrella subject moving from Food&Health to the Environment and then to Policy. Each week will look at the umbrella subject from a local, national and then global perspective in the hopes of showing students how all these issues connect. In addition students will engage in hands on stewardship by helping to maintain community gardens and perform lead testing in community food gardens. As a reward and intensive for joining Eco Ryders students will be taught how to design their own skateboards for free. We like using skateboarding as a tool to attract interest because it also helps to promote healthy living.

Basically a megablocks is when you take a few large city blocks in an area and prevent large vehicles like vans or trucks from entering forcing them to go around the perimeter. The speed limit inside the space is also limited to ten mph for any other vehicles. curbside parking is also replaced with underground parking allowing more space for pedestrians and lowering air pollution.

The project seeks to get every house in Coleraine a small plant, if all goes to plan I'm going to enlist the help of the council and a few local garden centers! Hopefully we will have enough plants donated to us to complete this task by the end of next month preferably in a smaller amount of time.
