This spring the children will visit Heartland Farm Sanctuary, a caring farm for injured farm animals. The children will learn what foods the animals eat and help prepare their meal, as well as feed them. They will visit the animals and learn about what they need to get healthy. They will also learn first hand about some of the medical treatments for the animals.

The children will bring animal grain with them to the farm sanctuary and learn how to feed the animals, what the animals need to live, and ways they are medically treated for their injuries.

Horse Rescue & Sanctuary, 19801 Sheridan St, Southwest Ranches, FL 33332, USA As Broward County Florida's oldest and largest horse rescue & sanctuary, we know that families who play together stay together. Currently, we have 51 Equine, 48 horses, 2 miniature donkeys, 1 hinny, 6 potbellied pigs, 2 farm pigs, 1 sheep, 6 goats and a cat. We welcome all ages to interact with animals and encourage families to help together. It is a great way to get back to nature, take in the fresh air and help make the difference in the lives of rescued animals. Regular daily chores include; dump/scrub/fill water buckets and troughs, stall cleaning, bathing, grooming, braiding, feeding, mow grass, paint, maintenance and anything else that might come up. Attire is casual, jeans or shorts and a t-shirt. Please wear closed toe shoes or boots. We need volunteers when it is hot, cold and raining. We held a fundraiser for Flatbush Cats, an organization that rescues/fosters cats in the Brooklyn area. We made “kitty chow” (aka trail mix) and sold it to parents and classmates. We raised $160!

Students painted rocks to be pet rocks and wrote "back stories" about where the pet was from, what its name is, and what its live was.

i want to and wncourage people to pock up several peices of plastic when they go to the beach, park or anywhere else you can see rubbish. you can only pick up one peice, but imagine if we all picked up one peice of rubbish we will have cleaned up 7 billion+ peices of rubbish.

Students have begun painting and selling rocks at $1 a piece. Each rock is hand painted, named and has a back story.

Volunteers make a huge impact on the care of the animals, the facility and the community. It is a great way way to get your family outside in the fresh air, involved with animals and to have a learning experience. Our entire operation is comprised of volunteer support and we never have enough help.
