Kids Need Support 2 Garden and Site Restoration will bring awareness, provide resources to children with many health disparities to combat their diseases, by cleaning the grounds, recycling, maintaining our gardens, painting, sanitizing the grounds for our Get Fit Program and Healing Gardens to succeed. We will take the food from the gardens, each child sits with the nutritionist to learn how to eat healthy and promote overall wellness. The children will cook the foods in the kitchen with a chef, who will teach them the purpose for gardening, living well and budgeting. The children will take foods to a local food pantry / shelter to combat malnutrition issues in the community. This will assist in our efforts to engage our community in Wellness programs, Awareness to Special Needs, and Building Stronger Communities overall.

Bring a community together that is so far broken that it may be the only thing to bring them back together. Community members, city council, district members and students/faculty members will develop a much better working relationship while working together for a much larger cause.

We will create a school flower and vegetable garden and harvest and share the produce. We will ask for donations from local stores to help with the costs. Students and staff at the school will maintain the garden.

16 of our classrooms will each be assigned a garden bed (or a portion of a garden bed) as well as a part of the outdoor learning space to cultivate and maintain. Classes will work during their scheduled time on a weekly basis. Classes will tie curriculum and Missouri State Learning Standards to their work in the garden, bringing together language arts, math, science, and social studies to their experiences in the outdoor classroom.

We have weeded and 'sheet mulched' the bed, adding ample compost. We have selected a variety of plants that will attract a wide variety of insects. The next step is finding the plants and planting. We hope to feature 'Showy Milkweed' to attract & support Monarch Butterflies, that once traveled through Oregon on the way to Canada. Years ago the Milkweed was wiped-out and as a result the Monarch migration ended. We hope to be part of the 'waystations' designed to re-establish this migration.
