Plant seeds indoors and take a close look at just how plants work, and what they need to grow. Place a bird feeder outside and observe the different birds (and maybe other creatures!) that like to eat from it and how these creatures help or destroy our garden. Before throwing household items into the recycling bin can we reuse it for a project.

Student Day of Caring provides an avenue for students to engage in brief volunteer service projects. The Twin County United Way conducts annual Days of Caring to promote volunteerism with businesses and schools. Student Days of Caring are intended introduce students to volunteering and encourage students to continue to volunteer throughout the year and into the future. The students will be at a dozen different locations around the Lewis-Clark Valley participating in a variety of hands-on activities including cleaning, yardwork, painting, repackaging food and sorting donations. This takes place on the first day of school for Lewiston High School, and involves all students who are seniors.

Students will set out hummingbird feeders once the snow has finally melted. They will watch the hummingbird map and add to it as birds arrive.

Even though this school year is coming to an end, the foundation has been laid for this Fall. Students at our school have begun an awareness campaign aimed and reducing the use of resources within our campus. Our work has been recognized at the school district level. We continue to research the latest information regarding endangered species and loss of habitats at the local, national and global levels.

We wanted to recycle old cans and decorate them, add plants to them, and give them to senior citizens!
