We are volunteering at a no-kill animal shelter which was destroyed last summer during monsoon season. It has been re-opened and we are helping out in any way we can.
We will create a interactive presentation about Coral Reefs and the current state they are in. We will also teach how to take tests of a water sample and learn how those various parameters impact the health of coral reefs.
This project will provide our school with a safe space for academic studies. We plan to do this by having students from the Latin department, and a few other teachers in the school collaborate together in an effort to restore the courtyard and pond.
We will launch our composting project on Earth Day. We will then send the Green Team to the cafeteria each Wednesday to begin to collect food scraps and encourage recycling.
We will be planting Crown Flower trees and Mamaki plants in order to attract female butterflies to lay their eggs. We will build a caterpillar hatchery to rescue and raise caterpillars to butterfly stage and release them.

We will plant 4-5 pollinator gardens around Lexington in public areas. These will be in places that the public can enjoy them, but they will be focused on providing natural and native environments for bees, other pollinators and butterflies. We will make the spaces between 3’x3’ and 10’x10’. We are working with experts at native plants to ensure that we have the right plants, and the right combination of plants for each season. We will place signs at each garden to explain to the public what we are doing and to make sure they are aware of the current struggles and habitat losses that bees and butterflies are going through. We will also make sure that these are pesticide free spaces, and try to educate others about the use of pesticides.
we will participate in community peace projects and environment conservation projects
I’d like to educate classmates on the importance of bees, what life would be like without them, and which areas around their houses and farms can best be used for bee sanctuaries including which types of plants are best for continuous blooming. I’ll also be turning an area of my own families property into a bee sanctuary and taking pictures to show a visual how to guide.
