The Children's Peaceful Garden project is underway and will continue this spring to be added to and grow more edible and perennial fruits, flowers, herbs, and vegetables, add native, shade-loving plants to our greenroof chicken coop, improve our low-wind generation system and seesaw pump, add to our apiary and bee sanctuary, upgrade our composting operations, install another rain barrel and more drip irrigation, all to demonstrate and teach children how to conserve water and energy, what it means to have a zero carbon footprint, and why to make healthy choices by eating local, organic, and sustainable.

We are only aged between 4-8 years old but we have the power to create change. We are committed to raising money to buy food for members of our community who need a hand right now. We will use our pocket money that we earn over the next 4 weeks to buy food for the hampers that the team at Father Bobs Foundation put together weekly. We want to earn our money ourselves and we will do our own shopping on 11 March with the money we have raised.

WHAT MY PROJECT DOES Keeps people warmer when it's cold to prevent them from getting sick. Helps low-income people not have to spend money for a hat, scarf, or gloves and put money towards something else they need. Helps people down and out realize that other people truly do care about their needs and are willing to provide them with something that helps their everyday life. Trust me, when its freezing cold and the wind is whipping these items make a difference for someone who would not have them otherwise. HOW WILL YOU DO IT? Using my leftover yarn from knitting projects I make throughout the year and any donations of yarn or money for yarn that people are willing to give me. I encourage crafty people to contribute or donate to the project if they wish to for a combined effort. :) If people wish to contribute to my project a single skein of the yarn I use can make about 1 1/2 to 2 children's hats. Or one skein can make a hat for an adult. It takes me about a day to make 1 hat. The yarn I use comes in a variety of colors and costs 3.99 without tax included. I am hoping by next Christmas I will have at least a large box of hats, scarves, and mittens to donate. Mittens usually take about a skein a piece or 2 for a pair. Scarves usually take 2 or 3 skeins depending on length.` If people would rather just donate a hat, gloves, or mittens that is fine too! WHAT PROGRESS HAVE I MADE? Currently, I have made 4 children's size hats for the project. WHAT ARE MY GREATEST CHALLENGES? Getting people to participate and donate. Teaching young people how to knit or crochet. I love to try and help people learn but sometimes I just don't feel I know maybe the best way to teach a young person. Once people are older they usually have more patience and can follow instructions step by step. But young kids kind of struggle to stay engaged and it can seem overwhelming to them.

Each member earns $0.25 toward our goal of $200 each time he or she practices making a positive behavior change. We record this on our action sheets. As we change our self in the world, we are also earning the money that will purchase the gifts that we will send to change the lives of families faraway. Our school and the local police officers pledged the money that we can "earn" through our good behavior practice.

In my youth, I was extremely fortunate to meet someone who (despite my objections) convinced me that I could have, do, or be anything I truly desired. Needless to say, he got my attention. It wasn’t because I was anyone special or out of the ordinary. This, he told me, applied to everyone. If I was willing to put in the time to study, learn, and apply what I was learning, he said, I would certainly see wonderful results. As it turns out, he was right. The more I studied the mind, human potential, and personal development, the more I came to believe that what Simon Attah had been telling me all along was indeed true. Through applying those lessons, I was appointed branch manager of a financial institution by the age of 22… at the time, the youngest person in Ghana to ever have done so. I discovered to my complete joy and amazement that what I was learning and then applying….was working! I learned a great deal being involved in the financial industry, but my heart was soon pulling me in the direction of being totally, absolutely, fully immersed in my studies. Just a few years later (after passing up another promotion opportunity), I quit my job and went to work with Simon Attah. With his blessing and encouragement, I soon formed my own Study Abroad company – Cosmos Study Abroad And Counselling Agency, Ghana, that was 6 years ago. Since then, I’ve been fortunate enough to have taught extensively throughout Ghana and in a number of Africa countries on setting, pursuing and achieving goals. One of my very favourite speaking engagements over that time — for the last 2 years, in fact — has been at Ghana youth initiative camp for young adults. I see an incredible amount of talent and potential in each one of them, and more importantly, I want to be sure they see this in themselves. Imagine if every young adult around the globe could see within him or herself an abundance of positive possibility? Imagine if each one had the motivation and confidence to express that possibility? This has become my personal mission and it’s what led to the development of the Ghana Youth Project. We’re here to inspire, enliven, educate, and empower as many young people as possible to become courageous, confident, goal achievers.
