Students are working in groups examining the amount of food, and water waste and charting responses; noting a decline in their charts as they become mindful to the waste of natural resources. Students are making contributions to environmental, human and animal organizations where they have found a need through their community mapping project. Ours is a year long practice of mindfulness to citizenship, and will involve small changes as the year progresses.

Our project will make our teachers and staff at school feel appreciated by sending them anonymous compliments and kind notes. What we will do is create heart shaped decorative slips of paper and during lunch for a couple days in our student center, have the student body write notes to the different staff members. Roots & Shoots members will organize, review, and deliver the notes to the beneficiary staff members.
