First, we partnered with the CSUN Food Pantry and YMCA to help us understand how to create a comfort closet. This information will be included in a video created by our SIA team to share facts about homelessness. The plight of the homeless families in our school and throughout LAUSD can be viewed during advisory classes to create awareness and discussion. Second, we will create an flyer informing the community of the items we need. As we collect these items they will be stored in a secure closet for the counselors to have access to. The supplies will be stored in labeled boxes.

We will start with a focus group, maybe foster kids, or probation lock down kids, and ask them to design our logo and first tee shirt. Then have THEM use technology to help spread the word. We, the adult will do the contacts with Scout programs, community groups and schools as well as businesses to get people involved in helping in their own local area..........We will utilize online materials and have the youth design a new website for the 2020 campaign if this one is successful. Our goal is to reduce animal populations in America to a point rescues will have to bring in animals from other countries to help!!! We believe youth and veterans who know technology have the ability to reach more people's hearts and reset their minds to help animals and are going to help an incredible number of veterinarians, rescues and stores to spay and neuter more animals free, or low cost each year. Additional information will be available on our web site: nnh48.org in the education section. We expect to create a new website just for this project soon! Design a logo, a tee shirt, and plan a local project to help your own area animals.

Youth will learn about the local homeless population from presentations by a representative who works with the homeless population at the Salvation Army, and from Lee County's Human Services Homeless Liason. THe youth will make cards of encouragement, make 400 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches to go into 200 lunch bags along with a variety of snacks, to be distributed at an outreach event that is held every Saturday to feed the homeless in Fort Myers. We will also distribute new socks, the most requested item, and hope to distribute other items like sunscreen, bugspray, etc. The team will also decide what future project they wish to do next and are expected to be ambassadors--recruiting more youth to be involved in the project they choose to do, and run, next.
