My idea is that there is this tiny weight at the end of the string that the store puts on so if it gets untangled the balloon won't fly away because it has a weight. The weights could be shaped like the animals that live in Washington, D.C.; for example, a fish, a turtle, an eagle and a deer. So there can be thousands of animals and for every store they can have their special animal, like DC United can have Talon.

The group is working on the planters and other gardening efforts and planning several seminars and mini projects to highlight the importance of being environmentally conscious.

We will be raising trout in classrooms all over NYC in order to release them into the watershed streams. We will also work to restore and protect the riparian area around the streams.

We will place thoughtfully-paired, drought-tolerant plants in the empty garden beds. We want to build a community compost center where we can create nutrient rich soil for our plants, and a student-designed irrigation system to use water responsibly even when we are on break. Eventually, we want to build some more benches and gates for our garden, and replace the broken fence.

Our project will fund our amphibious robot. We will purchase tools and equipment to build our robot and will use the robot to collect water and soil samples.

We are harvesting red mangrove seedlings that have fallen into South Florida waterways and are planting them in seed trays. After 9 - 12 months, we will transplant them into their native habitats. We have contacts throughout South Florida on both coasts that are interested in placing the mangroves in their areas.

Our goal is for our students to be involved in solving a real world problem at our school. We will be doing STEM lessons to guide students through the design engineering process to solve our watering problem. We want to be able to water our gardens using recycled water through a pipeline system from our rain barrel. We are trying to maximize the amount of water collected from a rainfall as well as deliver the water to the gardens automatically.

We hope that by building bioswales in our school garden, we will be able to reduce the amount of stormwater runoff that goes into the sewers. This will help reduce combined sewer overflows, which pollutes the Gowanus Canal. We hope that our project will be one part of the Gowanus Canal clean up. We will build our bioswales around the sewers in our school's garden. We will divert water away from the sewer and use it to grow plants.
