We have created a 10 week summer program that includes activities, speakers, hands on experiences and field trips to share resources with girls aged 13-16. Local community leaders and other individuals are working together with schools and churches to bridge the community gap between middle school and high school.

The project will reach out to young people ages 10-25 years old, who are greatly impacted by HIV, Domestic Violence, Bullying and Suicide. Our goal is to call to action agencies, collaborators and partners in the community to gather, armed with information, stories, testimonies, straight talk, hugs and support. It is our desire that young people from schools and colleges will feel free to attend, as well as, garner efforts to reach out to those who have and may be experiencing the effects of these issues and don't know what to do. Agencies, clinicians, faith leaders, teachers and survivors will be available to help them heal.

I partnered with an after-school program of 4th - 6th graders called CLASP (Claremont After School Program) which helps kids do homework and learn new activities after school each day throughout the year. The CLASP leaders allowed me to teach for 45 minutes each session with two sessions per day.

A group of students researched potential causes of red tide and were shocked to discover that runoff from fertilizers might contribute to increased and more severe red tides, a naturally occurring phenomena. They decided to create a YouTube video to educate other students as well as present to our second graders.

We will have our students look for evidence of the wildlife already in the area. We will also try to do a numbers research on what and how many animals we see. Then we will set up the area to increase the number of animals. Such as bat and bluebird houses. Our story trail will be used to make citizens more aware of the environment around them. It would be to used to acquire the necessary goods/services to set up the area at our school. We will need lumber etc. to build the houses. We will use our HS departments to help build the houses. We will also need supplies for the story trail including permanent posts with weather safe book slots and books.
