The Problem

The gender gap in STEM industries by targeting young girls and introducing them to STEM topics

Our Plan

While we were initially planning on doing an in person STEM camp, we had to adapt to a virtual environment due to COVID19. As a result, I changed my plan into a combination of personal STEM kits that can be taken in a socially distanced way, and virtual instruction through a written material document and filmed instruction videos available on our website.

Here is how the project went:

Due to COVID19, I changed my project from an in person STEM camp to a personal STEM kit with materials for experiments. The experiments were provided in a separate google document with additional videos filmed and posted to our website.

Through this project I/we learned:

I learned that we will need to adapt situations that are unexpected like the COIVD19 pandemic, but it is still possible to create a successful project with a real impact on the students.

What I/we might change:

I bought too much or too little of some supplies which either resulted in excess or me needing to make a last minute trip to the store. I have a better idea of what quantities to buy now.

My/our favorite part of this project was:

My favorite part of this project was getting feedback from the students that the experiments were really fun and seeing pictures of their experiments.

Some tips, tricks or fun facts about the project:

It's super important to plan out what is needed for each part of the project before deciding the budget!
