The Problem

5.7% of women have a substance use disorder in the United States, according to 2015 National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) data. Women struggling with addiction and homelessness face unique challenges linked to gender-based trauma, social stigma, assault, mental illness, and emotional disturbances. Homeless people overall suffer mental illness and drug addiction but it’s higher in women of lower income populations. The problem we want to fix is providing care packages to the women of Shurrun's House. We are gift giving thoughtful packages to empower 8 beautiful and powerful women to remind them of their worth and value.

Our Plan

The action we are planning is partnering with Shurrun's House Sober Living Transitional House to provide care packages to the 8 women residents served. The packages will included personalized items such a new pajama set, tea cup with tea, socks, and a book.
